Sledding!

Paul decided to take the day off last Tuesday, and as we'd been promising Caleb and Andy a trip to the mountains, we headed for the snow that morning. Unfortunately, the snow was pretty hard so we weren't able to make a snowman, but we sure had a great time sledding! Caleb and Andy were pretty scared at first, but they really got into it and had a blast by the end. They can't wait to go back again!

Seattle Trip

We just got back from a trip to Seattle and it was such a great time for all of us. Paul, of course, had business, but the boys and I went swimming at the hotel pool and even went on an outing to the Seattle Aquarium. It was octopus week at the aquarium, so we got to learn all about them. I think the boys' favorite part was watching the diver feed the fish. He even waved at them, which was very exciting. Now they want to be scuba divers when they grow up. We'll see how long that lasts!

The highlight of our trip was having dinner at our friends Kelly and Chris' house. Olen and Anita came over as well, and we all sat there in amazement as we watched all our children play happily together. It was a wonderful evening.

As we headed home, we stopped by a ceramic paint shop, owned by our friend Memes. The boys had a great time painting their piggy bank (Andy) and cupcake keepsake container (Caleb) but their favorite part by far was playing with the shop cat, Gus. Andy keeps saying that he misses Gus. Oh, brother.

Our final stop was lunch at Gramee and Grampee's. Aunt Sharon, cousins Faith and Kyle, and Uncle Wayne were all there and we all enjoyed some pizza and conversation. Oh, and Gramee's peanut butter cookies. So yummy! Caleb and Andy ware so sad to leave, but were appeased with the promise that Gramee and Grampee will come for a visit soon.

The drive there and back was surprisingly easy. Andy and Jakey napped most of the drives and Caleb just sat quietly looking out the window or reading a book. We have such wonderful travelers!

The BIG haircut

BEFORE

DURING

AFTER

Well, we did it. I guess I should say Grandma did it. Jakey's hair is no longer, well, long. It was quite an ordeal, with Baby Einstien playing in the background, Grandpa juggling as alternative entertainment, Daddy feeding Jakey crackers, and finally me holding his head because he kept moving. Jakey did okay at the beginning, but he soon decided that haircuts weren't for him and he got MAD. Grandma combed and cut as quickly as she could, and I think she did a great job. He's got a big boy haircut and I almost cried when it was over because that baby hair look is gone forever. Oh, well. At least it's cute!

Visitors!

My aunt and uncle, who I haven't seen in fifteen years, were in town today! We picked them up in Boring, OR and drove down to Corvallis to have lunch with my grandma. It was quite a nice reunion. The boys were fantastic, even though they spent most of the day in the car. I hope we see them again, preferably before another fifteen years goes by!
